Reflection on last year
It's been cold here in Minnesota this week. Really cold. Today it also snowed quite a bit, so we have that going for us! I do still like winter, but really only if there's enough snow to actually get out and enjoy some winter sports. We've had a number of winters that were just cold for cold's sake. Those I'm not as big a fan of.
The cold weather makes you want to think of warm things. This time last year we were in Mexico. We managed to get down there for nearly a month, from Christmas through most of January.
Our little one was only 4 months old and not yet able to crawl. But one year ago today she put in a hell of an effort! We were staying on Cozumel, our first week on the Island and 3rd week in country. Hanging out in the condo with Mackenzie playing on a quilt set on the tile floor. She got it in her head that she was going to MOVE. She spent most of the day trying and crying. It was both amazing and a little heart breaking to watch, but she was determined.
She didn't actually start crawling for a few more months, but watching her that day was incredible.
Just one year later and tonight she came running into the house bundled up head-to-toe in snow pants and jacket. Mom had just picked her up from school and she had a huge smile on her face. So much has changed in a year.
Last year we had her smiles and the carribean breeze to keep us warm. This year it's extra pairs of socks, snow suits, space heaters, and yes - the smile is still there and getting better every day.
