A stunning sunset
Went to pick Oscar up and I saw this.
“I can start meeting you at the bus stop more.” I had told Oscar yesterday. His joy in seeing me made me say that. I tried to keep it true.
I did my chores, setting an alarm for 5:10, so I could put Soki’s and my coat on and get ready. I put her coat on, and then we finished getting ready. We got out the door, and started walking down the block.
On the way there, I noticed the remarkable sunset. Different colors and shades of pink, yellow, red, orange, purple, and more, blending into a beautiful sunset. I had seen some pretty nice sunsets, but nothing as gorgeous as this. I couldn’t stop saying ”This is stunning,” to myself aloud, not caring if anyone heard. I was just experiencing, loving the moment.
I got to the bus stop, and was waiting for at least half an hour. As the sun does every day, it began to go away. I had been wearing my camera. I was still waiting. The same thing repeated itself in my head. Now or never, now or never. I looked back and forth. Sunset? Oscar? Sunset? Oscar? Well, as they say, it’s the thought that counts, right? So I walked over to the secret trail and took a few photos. I missed Oscar, and I feel bad that I did, but this was a special thing for myself. A picture that was calling to me. Still, I’m glad I took the picture. The sun was going away, but I really wanted that shot. And I got it, thankfully.
